Working together

My artist friend Natalie Bennett and I are working together on some paintings.   We are using the same source material to make individual paintings.   I have just seen two of hers which are finished – mine are a long way off at the moment.  It is interesting to see how we are similar in our approach and also different.   The spice of life and all that!!

I thought that I would write a little here about what I am doing.   My subject matter is currently about my daughter Charlotte who is a performer and musician.   She is in a show which is a modern day circus called Alice in Wasteland.   It is a modern take on Alice in Wonderland but all about waste and ecology.   It is this that is fuelling my painting at the moment.   I have also begun to look at all performers and the masks that they wear, both literal and metaphorical, which in turn has led me to look at African masks and the ‘masks’ that we all wear in different situations in our daily lives.
